how do you actually study for the joiner cert?

Just read the chapters and answer exam questions.

Happy Merry New Year

In two days we'll be saying goodbye to 2022 and hello to the new year!.

This year I've made a ton of new friends, and connected with those I've already had. I've lost some, gained some.

I've learned that how you view life, is how it will be for you. Negative mind = negative life. Your mindset changes how you think and behave in life, and that's really important.

Anyway, let's just quickly rap up my last blog post: MY WINTER PLANS!!.

So I finished watching my movie list, and did the pre-mocks and pirates, but I did not finish my books. So, in the New Year I may aswell take it upon myself, to read one book a month, or more.

What are your new years Resolutions?. LMK in the comments section down below and share this blog with your friends!.

In case you need some help deciding what new years Goals and Resolutions to have for 2023, here's a quick list I found online (credits to original owner).

Anyway, this year thought me about patience and faith. You need to be patient in life, and what's going to happen will happen, so allow it. I also belive in destiny now, and who knows?. Maybe whst your doing right now will be a hint to your future?.

Anyway, here's to a brand new year ✨.

2023, what will you do for me?.

READING CHALLENGE!!!

Rn I'm passively reading the novel 'Amazing Grace. So as I read it I will update you in this fun-themed blog post and participate in a self-made reading challenge.

Let's get started.

So Amazing Grace is exactly 500 pages long. Right now (rn) I'm on page 61, which is not great, as I want the entire novel to be finished by the end of today, or by the afternoon which is great.

Part one of the reading challenge: set a 10 minute timer on your phone and keep reading non-stop and once the timer beeps, fold the page your on and see the page number you read up to.

I'm going to do this now.

Results: we made it to page 70, only 9 pages, but I was reading slow. I'm proud of myself anyway for not giving up and not turning off the timer. Ready for round two?.

Part two of the reading challenge: read the rest of the chapter your on.

This book has lengthy chapters, so my next part of the ultimate reading challenge is to read the rest of the chapter completely with no breaks.

Let's get it started.

Results: After a while I made it and finished the chapter on page 78. My goal is to have the whole book finished by six, so I can do other things, and right now it's 11:56 AM. Almost 12.

Anyway, I'm getting bored but determined. So here's our hardest reading challenge round yet!. Make it to page 100. Regardless of the chapter, just make it to page 100, non-stop reading until you make it. That's actually only 22 pages, but non-stop it may seem like more. Okay ready?. Lets make it.

PROGRESS: Okay so basically I took a longgg break. Anyway now its 12:50 AM and I still want to be completed and done by six. So let's continue our challenge of getting to page 100!!. (And while I'm doing this challenge you can do it along with me with another book if you'd like).

Results: Yes! I've finished the task. I got to page 100 and realised a few seconds before that the rest of Chapter Four was only a few pages more, so I even finished chapter four too. Now I'm on page 103 out of 500. But, hey! At least I'm somewhere, right?.

Now this calls for a break. I'm going to relax for a while, scroll on my phone, maybe message a few friends and relax. I deserve it after reading practically the whole day!!.

BREAK.

THE NEXT DAY:

November >>>

All my movies for the Winter are finished and I need to read three novels this month, same goes for December (just two).

I also have to do pilates every Friday and the premocks and Christmas movies.... there's a lot.

This November, before I return to school I want  my one series to be watched, one novel to be fully read, and my tasks started. These are my goals.

Happy November!!!

Ten Ways To AVOID High Screen TIME

If your the type of person to always be glued to their phone, then I have made this blog post just for you!. First of all here's a life update:

🛑 I've started watching the Winter movies.

🛑 I am going to read an entire book today from start to finish 😳

🛑 It's officially Winter!!

Anyway, not that that's out of the way, here's my clever ways to STAY OFF your phone.

1. Plan your days

Plan your days on a price of paper the night before. Set high times for school, study, homework, hang-outs, etc. But also set limited times for going on your phone. E.g: 30 minutes a day.

2. Ask your parents to take away your phone for a month

This is a nice way to get rid of your phone for a whole social media detox month. I've talked about this a year ago, but its healthy to stay off your phone, from time to time. You can still text your friends on somebody else's phone and if you have online homework, to do it on a laptop, it'd, e.t.c. But don't use social media!!.

3. Delete three social media apps, like IG, Snap, Tiktok, VSCO, WhatsApp.

Delete three social Media apps. Particularly the ones you use most often. Find a different way to text. Trust me, you don't need half the social media apps yoir using.

3. Watch social media detox videos, then give your phone to your parents or put it away for a certain amount of time, e.g: one week/month/day.

This allows for time off.

Tip: and don't go reaching for that phone. Trust me, you don't need it. Spend just a little time off it and you'll feel so much happier and productive!!.

That's all Mini-Kay's! Please comment your fav method of sm detox. Have a great day!

My Winter PLANS!!!

Happy Halloween 🎃

Now that by tomorrow October and Fall '22 is officially over im proud to say that the Winter in my country will start.

I'm glad that I've gotten through this entire year. And really fast too!. So with two more months left of 2022 here's my ultimate Winter checklist/TBR and EVERYTHING Winter related. Including for January 2023, where we will still be Winter but also a whole new year!.

(Update: I will be planning for January in another blog post).

My Winter 2022 book reading list:

Not much on the agenda this season, but this is only for the end of 2022, not the last Winter month next year.

👡 Amazing Grace by Claire Dowding

👡 The stupidest angel by Christopher Moore

👡 The everything machine by Ally Kennen

👡 Paparazzi Princess by Cathy Hopkins

Four books, all fiction in two months. That means two books for the November month, which is not a lot for me. And two for December.

Ie already started Amazing Grace and I'm currently reading the novel.

My goal is to extend my English vocabulary and to enjoy reading. It will also help me reduce screen time, which is something I like to do during the Winter.

My Winter 2022 watch list for movies and TV shows:

Movies

❄ Fall ✅

❄ wish upon a star ✅

❄ wild child ✅

❄ confessions of a teenage drama queen ✅

❄ the Princess diaries 1 +2 ✅

Most of the movies are from my Pinterest.

Winter 2022 checklist:

💍 Study for and complete the pre-mocks

💍 Make a hot chocolate. ✅

💍 Do pilates EVERY Friday of November and December 2022.

I will come back and edit in little ticks such as this ✅ beside everything once I've completed it.

2021 and 2022, where did they go?

It seems like those past two years just zoomed by. I seriously don't even remember a lot from these years. I've been 12, 13 and 14 within these years. So basically my early teenage years.

But honestly where did they go?. Early 2021 was my main part of 1st year. Late 2021 was my first part of 2nd year. And early 2022 was the end of 2nd year. And now late 2022 is the first part of third year. That's where I am now. And in roughly two months and a few days, 2023 is going to arrive. So with all these changes, I think its important to regard the past while, I'm glad I've finished up those two years (almost!!) and I'm pretty excited for the new year as that year ill be focused on school but there will still be fun memories along the way.

First and 2nd year are totally done. Over. Yes!. I'm proud of myself for accomplishing what I call 'the prefab years' (its a longgg story).

Anyway, if i skip 4th year, which I want to do, I'll be left with three years in Tech. This year, which is already started. I mean, the first term is already completed. Then 5th year that I'll be starting next year in the fall. So this time next year. And once these two years are majorly over, I've got 6th year (my last year) and then the Leaving Cert. Then, who knows!. Hopefully u can go on to be a solicitor which is my dream job.

Anyway, I'll update yall every step of the way.

Heres to our future

Logging off

I'm gonna be up all night writing blog posts on my phone

Yep you read that title, its half past midnight on All Hallows eve and here I am typing out a hundred million gallzillion blog entries. Seriously?. I should focus on my sleep schedule. Anyway, lately I've been purposely thinking a lot about my future. Like my future in secondary school. Like 5th and 6th year, which aren't really important to me right now. I'm in third year. I should be focused on the now and now on the then. Right??. I guess it's a normal teenage thing to be constantly focused on the future. But its sooooo boring.

I hate not knowing what's going to happen.

Anyway if you've read the last two entries you've head all about my plans for 2023. Its a year dominated by the main part of 3rd year, the joiner cert, two months of Summer Vacation, (where i'll spend 2 weeks in Spain or Paris probably and time with my closet friends), the fall term of 5th year, and the winter term of 5th year. Then its on to 2024.

So the year is basically a non-stop work cycle for the most part. School goes on for most of the months, Jan, Feb, March, April, May, JC June, September, October, November, December. Thats 10 months out of 12...

My plans for this blog

For the longest time this blog has made me happy and want to be studying. Its been an essential to my early secondary school days. Now that 1st and 2nd year are officially over forever and I never have to repeat those years, I'm looking toward the future. My joiner cert for example, then 5th Year (if I skip 4th). I'm also thinking a lot about 2023, next year. It will be the rest of third year, Summer '23 and finally 5th Year. There's a lot for me to learn before that year goes ahead and a lot for me to cherish. I'm thinking of writing more in my blog as one of my resolutions. I know its only Halloween tomorrow, but I'm seriously thinking toward the future and I can't stop!. My future is important but what I do now is also very important too (the present). I'm thinking of de-cluttering my room this mid-term and learning how to cook for a long time with the food we have got already (ie to not spend a fortune on expensive unnecessary ingredients that I don't fully understand).

Either way next year is a huge gap for me to practise maturing and to grow up. I turn 15 in the fifth month, can you believe it?. I still remember being 5!. And when I was writing '15' I accidentally typed 25 and omg i just did it again! When I was writing 25 I accidentally wrote 35. Anyway.....

I plan to continue this blog until I graduate secondary school. Which will probably happen in late 2025 (almost 3 full years).

So until then we have a long time together. So get ready for more midnight entries and crazy storys just after they happened!. I'm Kayla and this is Kayla'a blog.

Ain't that right Mini Kay's?

2023 is going to be an easy year 😇

My plans for 2023 are already mostly made. Its going to be a year of work for me with the joiner certificate exams and later in the year starting 5th Year.

It will all start in January where I study to sit my mocks in February.

Then i'll catch a break for a week in February.

March to April of study and concentration. Then the two week Easter holidays. Then its April through May  all the way to June 3rd. Then we're off to do our joiner cert all June. What the tests are finished I'll probably be going abroad for my summer hols maybe to Paris or Spain my family is deciding. Then I'll spend a week in my friends and hang out and factime all my friends. I'll also be spending a lot of time outside and in August ill be preparing for 5th Year.

Then from September to October ill have the Fall term at school. All new class, new lessons, new books, fresh start. Your also allowed to leave the school on breaks. Then ill have the mid term. Then the November to December term (Winter term) and then its 2024 😲

Happy birthday to my brother

Just wanted to say Happy 16th to my brother Fionn!. Thanks for all the times you made me laugh and thanks a lot for all the memories!. Have a good year of 16 and I hope it all turns out the way you want it to.

Rhianna, SZA and Ice Spice all release new songs on the same day

On Friday the 28th of October, (yesterday), three musical artists all released new songs. From Rhianna to Ice Spice. Rhianna was back after a long wait and SZA was back after a shorter wait. Ice Spice released her new song, just a short while after her smash hit 'munch'.

Speaking of new music, earlier this year Adele came back after ages with 'Easy On Me' and a whole new album!. I think it was called 30 as a milestone celebration of her turning thirty, which is a repeated tradition of Adeles. (Releasing albums for her ages) . Easy On Me was an emotional song which I loved.

Beyoncé also returned in July/August of 2022. We've been waiting for her to release new music since 2016 and the famous popular released an entire album!. Renaissance was all about how we are finding the link to get through Covid and that now its over, we are going through a new time, re-fonding ourselves and becoming totally new people after the shattering and shocking pandemic. Just like a Renaissance!.

Honestly, I'm still playing the songs on Renaissance today!. It's a really good pop, RnB and disco album and it's really fun too. My fav of the album is probably  'Plastic Off The Sofa', it is extremely and utterly relaxing. I also love All Up In Your Mind.

Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter also released new songs which sparked debates among their fans. But honestly, I don't really care about any damage between any singers! To me i just like to enjoy the music. And I love both their music.

Ariana Grande is still working on the Wicked life action movie, she's starring as the good which. And we have got i think a few singles in 2p21 and maybe a few this year, but barley any new music since her 6th studio album positions in 2020.

Anyway, thats all the music news from some of my fav singers.

Xoxo Kayla

Where I've been

I got logged out.

I couldn't remember my password and it didn't let me log in. So I had to make a whole new blog which failed and was miserably boring and got no views. But now I'm back. Yep. Its been hmmmm over a year?. Well let's just say everything about me has changed.

Let's dive right through what you all missed....

I posted my 'last' blog post in August 2021, since then I started 2nd Year in secondary school, and on June 3rd 2022 I had my last day of that year. It honestly went by very quick and it was a year where even though I didn't enjoy it (the year), I learned a lot about myself and many valuable lessons.

Then I had Summer '22 where I went to Tipperary and Carlow and Killkenny and many other places. On August 29th 2022 I had my first day of third year, which I was unprepared for.

On the 18th of October 2022 I went to Kusadasi, Turkey. And, oh! I forgot in March 2022 I also wet for a week in Kusadasi. I'll write more on those amazing trips in my upcoming blog entries.

Anyway, now I'm on the Halloween mid-term. I'm 14 now... yes an immense change from when I was 12. I feel like I got immature over the years but oh well. I dream is to be a solicitor now, not a journalist, but hey! People change.

Anyway, I hope to write more very soon! Xoxo

Bye mini-Kay's

Things to start saving up for

Your main big purchases can be bought/purchased at any time, but most tend to buy these things in their twenties. Here are some big purchases you should save you for:

                             House

Car

                              College

The three states of matter

The three states of matter are solids, liquids and gas'.

Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.

Mass = how much matter is in an object. (Measured with a balance). Unit for measurment: grams (g) and kiliograms (kg).

PROPERTIES OF THE STATES OF MATTER

SOLID: has a definite shape and volume but can not compress and particles cannot flow.

LIQUID: particles CAN flow and does not have a definite shape ( liquids take the shape of the container that they are poured into). Cannot compress and does have a definite volume.

GAS: can flow and compress. Does not have a definite shape or volume.

Enclosed is a helpful/educational video on our current concept:

REVISION SO FAR:

Solid, liquid and gas.

Solids can't compress or flow and do have definite shapes and volumes.

Liquids can flow and have definite volumes. They do not have definite shapes and CAN'T be compressed.

Gas's can flow and have a definite volume. They can't compress and don't have a definite shape.

MATTER: Anything that has space and mass.

MASS: How much matter an object takes up.

                                                Change of state

SOLID (melt) LIQUID (boil) GAS (melt) LIQUID (freeze) SOLID.

DIFFUSION: The flow of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.

The best reboots coming out this year.

A reboot is something, most often a television series or a movie being revived.

With the pandemic, many businesses have sky-rocketed the industry, such as netflix, the world's current largest streaming network. Numerous streaming services are now rebooting your fav shows!. So lets get up-to-date with all the reboots, new shows, and epic movies coming your way!!.

1. The icarly reboot

Countless icarly fans have been wishing endlessly for a reboot of their fav show since the original series ended in 2012. That day has finally come!. Fans were shrieking in delight when it was reported that the show would be getting a reboot, releasing on paramount + in June of this year ( June 17th!). All of the 13 episodes will air on the streaming service, ten years into the future where the cast will be in their twenties and will be navigating through work, love and family

Sadly Janette Mccurdy the actress who portrayed Sam Puckett on the original series will not be returning for the reboot, albeit two new characters will be added, Carly Shay's new bff/roommate and Freddie's social-media obsessed step-daughter, Millicent.

2. Loki

After the four-part movie series of avengers ended, fans were upset that they didn't get to see that much of Loki, a fan-fav persona. Luckily, disney + had their backs and decided to launch an entire series about Loki on their streaming service launching on June 11th.

2. Cruella

Cruella will be getting her very own series on disney + launching this MONTH!!. (May 28th).

3. Friends: the reunion

HBO max is finally launching the reunion of the best-beloved TV show, F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

The program will feature a wide-range of celebrity guests putting questions to the cast. Inclusive of, Malala, Lady Gaga, Reese Witherspoon, BTS, Justin Bieber and David Beckham. It is coming onto the service on May 27th.

3. Rugrats

The show will be returning!. Nickelodeon are rebooting the show, with twenty-six episodes!. The original creators and ENTIRE original cast will be returning, including Nancy Cartwright, legendary voice actress of Bart Simpson and Chuckie!.

4. Power rangers

The show will be returning with a movie and apparently a connected series!.

Okay folks!, so witch reboot on this list is your fav?. Let us know in the comments!.

My summer plans for 2021

Summer is a vacation, time away from work. But when you can't really go to any other place but your home and local supermarket it's hard to just chill and allow the summer vibes to flow in. So here are my restricted plans for the Summer under the reigning pandemic.

1. Visit my grandparents if I can

2. Work on my novel

3. Read/revise

4. Play with my pets

5. Make YouTube videos

6. Celebrate my birthday

May 28th- My last day of school.

May 30th- bday

may 31st- go to grandparents

How to go about a social media detox

Okay so it's simple, right?. No phone for a week, easy-peasy. Well along with annoying temptation and not being able to check up on your friends and pals, a social detox (time away from the internet and your mobile phone/devices) may be tremendously difficult for the average individual. So in this exclusive blog post here on Kayla's Blog, we will venture into the complex list of tips and tricks on how to go about a social media detox.

    1. Resist the urge

Easier said than done. You may wish to just post a selfie on Instagram or start a streak on Snapchat, however ask yourself the query; "Do I need to do that right now?". And do not attempt to try and find a loop hole, you do not need to head onto the internet. In fact you should have a house phone (a phone in witch you keep at home and can only call people on) so that you have no excuses to call somebody as if you really need to the house phone will be there.

2. with every detox go stronger

What I mean by this title is to do more extreme detox's. Start off with a day of no devices, then three days, then perhaps a week, then slowly engage onto a month or more.

Make sure to be careful with what you post/comment online/on the internet!. Take breaks from it every now and again!!.

Gift Ideas For Children/kids ( 7-14)

2. sowing kit for kids

It is always nice and traditional to keep traditions in the running, especaily if they are vital such as sowing.

3. Journaling kit!

Does your teen ADORE journaling?. Do they like to read, write and draw?, well if so then this makes an awesome present!.

4. Science toys/kits

Perhaps a telescope?, an encyclopedia?. For the smart kido's this is the way to go!. I sure know I adored that science kit I was gifted as a child!!!.
